Celebrating 30 years with B&R!
A great example of B&R’s drive to provide opportunities for staff to progress within the company, Brian Mckerlie commenced with B&R in 1992 in the Adelaide factory, setting up 60 tonne presses and punching out parts, almost notch by notch.
By volunteering to work with new pieces of equipment and following a steep learning curve, Brian soon became a team leader. Stints on different presses and the powder-coat/assembly line followed until Brian’s operational knowledge led to him learning how to code the machines and transitioning into the office.
Nights studying at TAFE rewarded him with Auto-Cad drawing qualifications and he was part of the organisation’s embracing of 3D design to save time, money and minimise prototyping. Support from B&R led to the attainment of a Diploma of Engineering for Brian.
A willing participant in a range of internal and external social committees, Brian’s community focus continued when he moved to the Brisbane Head Office in 2016.
Over Brian’s time as a programmer and designer he has been involved in a large number of well-known product developments including the Horizon metering enclosure range, Performa distribution boards (during the B&R Hager partnership) and the Infinity 3G modular switchboard solution. He is currently prototyping a new B&R distribution panel board.
B&R would like to congratulate Brian for his 30 years of service and thank him for his contribution to the B&R team throughout that time.
