Water Engineering Technologies, a business unit of the South Australian Water Corporation, required a control enclosure and separate supply authority metering enclosure as part of a $200m salt interception scheme to reduce the leaching of salt into the River Murray, South Australia.
Salinity levels have increased due to years of clearing native vegetation for housing development in the area. Bores sunk to the water table are connected to pumps that extract the saline water into open ponds for evaporation. Control and metering enclosures needed to be installed in restricted space and in such a way as to prevent damage if the area was flooded.
Water Technologies used B&R’s Monarch IP enclosures to deliver an effective solution which restricted space by mounting the control and metering enclosures “back to back”. Each system is mounted on frames which can be raised prior to flooding of the area.
Twenty seven systems were installed along the river, near Loxton in South Australia’s Riverland.
