B&R recently completed delivery on a flagship project for its client, RayGen to assist with the exciting new solar energy project at the Carwarp power plant.
Situated in regional Victoria near Mildura, the Carwarp power plant is the world’s largest next-generation, long duration energy storage (LDES) project - the world’s highest efficiency solar photovoltaic project and is contracted to one of Australia’s largest utilities, AGL Energy.
While solar energy has been a part of our energy landscape for many years, there is a continuous need to improve the efficiency of capturing the sun's energy to maximise the return on investment.
RayGen was in need of a prototype project that would prove the efficiency of this technology and B&R was invited to work with the designers to create cost efficient and effective solutions that could be scaled in production for the much larger end concept. Supported by Australian government funding, the Carwarp project made use of local and international partners to design and create the innovative components that would prove the concept.
With a prioritisation around minimising the environmental impact of construction as well as finished infrastructure, the Carwarp project has been a success in many ways. B&R is proud to be associated with this innovative use of green energy and we look forward to being part of the much bigger rollout of this next-generation energy delivery.
